Emergency Dentist in Woodway, TX
When You're in Pain, Call First
Tooth pain that's keeping you up, a broken tooth, swelling that's getting worse — these aren't things to wait on. Call our office as early in the day as possible and let us know what's happening. We prioritize emergency patients and will get you in as quickly as we can.
If it's outside office hours, request an appointment online and select Emergency Dentistry. We'll reach out first thing when we open.
For anything involving severe swelling, difficulty breathing, or trauma to the head or jaw, go to an emergency room first.
What We Treat
Most dental emergencies fall into a few categories. We see patients for:
- Severe or worsening tooth pain
- Swelling of the gums, jaw, or face
- Knocked-out or partially dislodged teeth
- Cracked, chipped, or broken teeth
- Lost fillings or crowns causing pain or sensitivity
- Abscesses or signs of infection
- Dental trauma from an accident or injury
If you're not sure whether what you're experiencing counts as an emergency, call us anyway. We'd rather talk you through it than have you sitting in pain wondering.
What Happens When You Come In
Emergency appointments at WM Dentistry aren't just about getting you out of pain — though that's the first priority. We also take the time to figure out what caused the problem and what the right next step is.
Most emergency visits involve an exam and imaging, a clear explanation of what's going on, immediate treatment to relieve pain and stabilize the tooth, and a follow-up plan if additional work is needed.
You won't leave without understanding what happened and what comes next.
What to Do Before You Arrive
A few things that help while you're on your way:
For swelling: apply a cold compress to the outside of the face in 10-minute intervals. Don't apply heat.
For a knocked-out tooth: handle it by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently if it's dirty — don't scrub it. Keep it moist in milk or hold it between your cheek and gum. Time matters here. The sooner you get in, the better the odds of saving it.
For pain: over-the-counter ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help manage discomfort on the way in. Don't place aspirin directly on the gum tissue.
For a lost crown or filling: avoid chewing on that side. Dental wax or a temporary filling material from a pharmacy can protect the tooth until you're seen.
Why Prompt Care Matters
Dental problems don't tend to stay stable. An infection that starts in one tooth can spread quickly. A cracked tooth that feels manageable today can fracture further tomorrow, turning a straightforward repair into something significantly more involved.
Getting seen quickly usually means simpler treatment, a better outcome, and lower cost. Waiting rarely works in your favor.
Dental Emergencies Require Prompt Care
Cracked, broken, or damaged teeth can lead to pain, sensitivity, and further complications if left untreated. Emergency dental care focuses on relieving discomfort, stabilizing the tooth, and restoring oral health as quickly as possible.
